Metalbry, I love that...kid! hahah Deankuhta. I didnt have a reference for that particular blade of grass, hence its inacuracy ;-) Tommy, Daequitas, Valera and Madanapale thanks very much Gianna, yes I did the gorilla, it should be in my gallery! Anyway I need to sort that one out too with regards to the writing all over it. I am not going to put them all back up though as I dont want to flood my gallery with wildlife drawings. did you know there are around ten times more human deaths per year due to hippo encounters compared to crockodiles? Hippos are violenly territorial. Their bite strength has been measured at 3000 pounds per square inch. So you're practically reduced to minched meat hehe so much for constructive criticism + 10...oh yeah I already gave that...well let's call these virtual points...

What a lovely hippo, and a lovely new wildlife piece, as well! And yes, you'd think people would notice a hippo...but perhaps they're under the false impression that hippos are more benevolent creatures. Although you'd still think a person would be weary of a creature with such an expansive mouth equipped with bone-crushing teeth. That, of course, would require (God forbid) a tad of sense.

Agree with metapuppet. It's a little square but has a great appearance. I really like the outcome of the skin texture and the sharp shadings of the grass on the left side. I think some of the grass could use some more of that sharp shading. Somehow I dig the white background! Works up the contrast.

its pretty good andy. love the way youve pulled it off in black and white. i have a slight problem with the area behind the neck which feels a bit more incomplete than the others. love the rendering though - very lifelike.

Hippo tastes of...er?...hippo I guess...a bit gamey but not as strong as venison...nothing special really, I'd sooner have a T-Bone steak!!...I hope we taste better to them!! I've also tried crocodile...in a pate!!!...from a tin!!!!!....sad end really to a fabulous creature...but I'll eat anything me!!
