Andy this is by far THE best work you've ever posted here....I don't know if I'm excited because of the painting, or the fact that you actually pushed yourself in a new direction which is such a rarity here.

Ok for crits (c'mon, as one of my favs you have to get some)
-The sky could use a bit more blue, not much....but it's coming off a little too grey on my monitor.
-The flames aren't all yellows/oranges in real life....believe it or not there should be some blue in there too.
-The tail coming from her butt (under the dress) seems much lower then where it starts to show outside the dress. Unless there is a wicked curve that we can't see. If it's a seperate layer....maybe you can move it down just a little.

Holy crap man, I'm really amazed at this one.....I've been hanging back on the voting again lately but I'll pull the +10 out of the attic for you.

My next challenge to you.....DOF in a painting. Take a look at  Kyena's paintings at her site http://www.tascha.ch/ and check out her Too Sweet http://tascha.ch/wordpress/?page_id=49 and Spring Petals http://tascha.ch/wordpress/?page_id=55 paintings....she has a few others that have close up objects blurred out to give the illusion of depth.

I would like to show you the progress I've been making but I had to give my tablet back to work, so I'm deadlocked for new paintings until I move next week. Unless Santa brings me a WACOM

New thought...you could even put some flames in the foreground....granted it would cover up those cool boots, but it would immerse the viewer in the scene. Even maybe some sort of ripple filter to add the effect of heat...

EDIT* Brett that bit under the dress isnt actually her tail! Its part of the dress as it is split at the back...that is also why the tail is free. I maybe should try to make it look more like the material....Ok I actually got rid of that bit now as it was distracting. Cheers Brett.

an insignificant lil crit would be her left arm and hand position makes her look like she is dancing
but i believe you wanted to draw right after she inhaled one from the cig and as she lower her hand???
but hey dancing works better for me
gives her a more cynical look
and some parts could be highlighted such as the cigarette
so it could be more visible and with some smoke to complete the composition

Brett has said it all really so ditto him!....except the flames in the foreground bit (don't lose the boots!!!)...in particular his idea for heat haze sounds quite cool (or should that be hot?)

holy shit, awesome concept andy, i like everything in the painting except the jean shorts, i think it wouldve been better with panties, the jean shorts don't really complement the concept like it should, i also think the base of the tail should be a different hue so that it doesn't look like a rat tail with it's current texture, lol, otherwise awesome concept and awesome excecution, nice to see a new one from you

Cheers Kirk. What I was trying to do with the tail was hint at it changing into red, as if she was starting to take on the form of the devil...but you are right it does look rather ratty! I may change that. And the shorts! Well I did origionally do her in just panties but thought that was a bit too over sexy and I wanted her to have a little attitude in her dress sense. I did like her in knickers though but I will keep her in shorts hahaha.

i love playing dress up with my paintings, the boots are F*&#in sick too, awesome job on the boots, i understand the transformation too, i wish you wouldve had more carnage in the back though, like people jumping out windows and fleeing for their lives, i wouldve just laughed had i saw that, anyway it's sick, nice work

i really like the way you paint clouds they look so solid like snow clouds.....if that makes sence lol the fire on the cross on top of the church looks a little stiff i think it needs some little flames just licking off into the sky the rest of it is absolutley fantastic nice to see a sudden surge in your productions

+10 I really like this Andy. Brett already covered any critique. My monitor sees the sky as grey tone too. My only real problem with it. It looks like you didn't color the sky. Might be me monitor or it could be this blue background...that would make the sky grey tone. It plays hell on any blues you use I have noticed in my own work....It better be bright blue or it will get drab. Love the pose and the attitude. Good work.

And Kallen thank you very much. The sky is a dark blue and the clouds are a sort of white blue into blue grey, but not grey. I appreciate it may look grey as I could have spent more time on the sky too. Thank you very much for your crit Kay.

thats one sweeeping angle there, nice man, pulled off a very interesting piece, your clouds are definately your own thing man, they show the most the individuality of your style, its progressing too, each one is better than the last...nothing to really pick apart, its solid.

Well Brett snatched a lot of what I might have said, so I'll go and find a piece of his older works and give it a good verbal thrashing, then trash it! Actually in truth, I have very little in the way of crit or advice as I don't really deal with CG myself as such, so can't really say a lot. But I do like this new one from you - a lot!

Is it a coincidence or does she look a lot like your last date? Just wondered. Wouldn't want her hand roaming round my wherewithalls though, I must admit.
